This evocative photograph captures a scene at The Show Boat in Maidenhead during World War II, when the art deco style club, famous for its swimming pool, was transformed into an All-Services Club. The club, which had opened to much fanfare in 1933, was financed and overseen by Colonel W. Tickler during the war years. In the photograph, we see a group of distinguished guests, including, from left, Mrs. Powell, Lieut.-Col. Sir Frederick O'Connor, of Tibet fame, Mr. Warren, Mrs. W. Tickler, and Mr. Arrigo.
