In this photograph taken by Stephen Pond on July 16,2008, George Elokobi of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC concentrates intently during a friendly match against Hereford United. Elokobi, a native of Cameroon, joined Wolves in the summer of 2007 and quickly established himself as a reliable and consistent defender. The friendly match against Hereford provided an opportunity for Elokobi to showcase his skills and build team chemistry with his Wolves teammates. Elokobi's career began in the lower leagues of English football with teams such as Dagenham & Redbridge and Rushden & Diamonds before making the move to Molineux. His hard work and determination paid off as he earned a place in the Wolves first team, making his debut in a League Cup tie against Millwall in September 2007. Throughout his time at Wolves, Elokobi proved to be a versatile defender, able to play both as a central defender and a left-back. He was known for his strong tackling, good positioning, and ability to read the game. Elokobi made a total of 119 appearances for Wolves before leaving the club in 2013 to join Colchester United. This photograph captures Elokobi in his prime, focused and determined as he prepares to defend against an attack from Hereford. The image serves as a reminder of Elokobi's contributions to Wolves during a period of transition and success for the club. With his strong performances on the pitch, Elokobi helped pave the way for Wolves' return to the Premier League in 2009, a feat they had not achieved since 2003.
